"Crafting the Future"
Craftsmanship, innovation, sustainability
At Milan’s Museum of Cultures, MUDEC, the exhibition “Crafting the Future”, featuring a history of Italian craftsmanship and innovation, has just come to an end. Put together by the National Chamber of Fashion, with support from the Ministry of Economic Development and ICE, the Agency in charge of the internationalisation and promotion of Italian businesses abroad, the exhibition (Curator: Franca Sozzani, Co-curator: Sara Maino, Artistic Director: Luca Stoppini, Coordinator: Federico Poletti) showcased a range of items displaying excellent craftsmanship and companies which are investing in the development of new technologies applied to the fashion industry, with a special focus on environmental protection. The watchwords – craftsmanship, heritage, innovation and sustainability – are increasingly important in understanding the changes in the fashion sector. The exhibition put companies in touch with designers in order to carry out a series of projects on various themes. Canepa, which has spent years investing in innovations and sustainability in the textile industry thanks to the SAVEtheWATER® Kitotex® programme, took part in the event by collaborating with stylists from the brands Rosamosario and flavialarocca which created a number of items with high-quality and environmentally-sustainable textiles, used and combined in creative and original ways.
